On 11 February, the United Nations designated Women and Girls in Science Day is celebrated around the world, and in Santander, we are joining in for another year under the slogan Women and Girls in Science Every-Day with activities every day of the week, because “here we develop technology every day”. Will you join us in rebuilding a more inclusive tech industry? 🙌
These initiatives include:
- Giving visibility. Social media campaign with female employees recognizing the role of women in technology as agents of change to help society thrive.
- Creating role models. Join us in the Women in Tech live session with #nofilters: we will talk about the change of perceptions between Studying VS. Working in technology. Amaya Alberdi, expert in Software Engineering, Ana San Juan, specialist in Cloud Automation, have been working in technology for more than 10 years and are sponsors and mentors of the Women in Tech programme. In this session they will talk with Carmen Vigo, analyst in Cyber Intelligence, and Irene Enamorado, analyst in Software Engineering, both are starting their careers. In the Women in Tech live and #sinfiltros session they will talk about:
- What technology projects are being developed in Santander.
- How this helps or impacts society and development.
- In Spain, only 10% of female students are currently in STEM careers. What would you say to them so they choose to work at Santander?
- Showing our women leaders. Masterclass on Cyber Intelligence and external relations: How Santander engages with entities such as OTAN or Interpol to ensure a cyber-safe ecosystem. This session is given by Marina Nogales, Head of Cyber External Engagement and participant in Women in Tech, for computer engineering students at the URJC in Madrid.
- Motivate. A workshop for children of employees 🕹 in which we collaborate with Santander Women’s Network and ValPat, a YouTube channel developed by Valeria and Patricia, in which they promote the passion for the world of technology and robotics among the youngest.
This initiative is part of the Be Tech! with Santander recruitment plan and is an example of how we are taking concrete steps to promote diversity and inclusion in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

Women in Tech, our commitment to diversity and inclusion 👩🏻💻
In 2021 we launched the Women in Tech (WIT) initiative from Santander’s Technology and Operations (T&O) team with the aim of promoting female talent, raising awareness, and creating references among employees with STEAM profiles. In addition to supporting and ensuring that they have access to different management positions.
Despite its short trajectory, Women in Tech has been recognized at the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Awards 2022 with the first prize in the team category, for its work promoting diversity and gender inclusion in the technology sector.
Santander Digital Services is a company belonging to Grupo Santander, which is based in Madrid and has more than 7,000 employees. We are working to move Santander towards a Digital Bank with branches.
