Summer is here and our long-awaited holidays have arrived. Don’t you take the opportunity to hang out in a terrace or a park with some friends to have a cool drink? Well, there are other things one can do.
If you want to develop your career in Cybersecurity, I will recommend you two online courses, two events and a website to become a cybersecurity expert by the end of the summer. Or at least, a very valid candidate š
HackMadrid %27
It is an international community of people who would like get initiated in the hacking culture and experienced hackers who have participated in projects for public or private entities. In the networks, this group is known as HackMadrid %27, and belongs to the international hacking community together with HackMiami, Hack The Bay and HackNewYork. In telegram we have a channel called HackMadrid %27, where each of us contributes our grain of sand with the little or much knowledge we have.
They regularly organize meetups to exchange ideas, present new projects and do some networking while having a drink. Have a go and come to one! There is nothing better than getting to know some hackers to learn about Cybersecurity.

2 Free Online Courses
There are millions of MOOCs and lots of free (and not free) courses that you will be able to find online. Personally, I will recommend these three to start with:
Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking Course
If you wish to be certified as an Ethical Hacker, you can start from here. You will learn how to exploit networks as an attacker would do it in order to find out how to protect the system from them.
Before starting the course, you will need to know what Shodan is – the search engine for unsecured devices.
It is not just about looking for open ports or applications with credentials that are easy to trace, you will also get the chance to learn to discover other vulnerabilities. And of course: you should always use this knowledge to do good!

[Video] OSINT Course: Open Source INTelligence
It is not new that there is a lot of public information on the Internet. With the right tools, many data can be collected from these free and declassified sources.
Learn how to do OSINT research finding information in public sources. These YouTube videos will serve you as an introduction and will provide you with websites which will make your job easier if you want to dedicate yourself to cyber-research.

Looking for Open Source code in GIT
If you prefer to be a developer and work with GIT as a code repository, you can dive through https://github.com, where there are hundreds (or even thousands) of applications related to cybersecurity.
For example, if you search for the word āCyberā (https://github.com/search?q=cyber) you will find Open Source applications that allow you to do thousands of things related to cybersecurity:
In the menu on the left you can filter by programming language, Python, Java, Javascript, etc …
How to continue by the end of the summer?
Throughout the year there are hundreds of events related to cybersecurity. Probably at the beginning of October I will be at the Navaja Negra Conference, where for the ninth consecutive year we can enjoy beers very interesting cybersecurity conferences.
For Summer 2020: Incibe Summer BootCamp
For next summer, I recommend that you have the INCIBE BootCamp (National Cybersecurity Institute) on the radar – an international cybersecurity training event for State Security Technicians, Forces and Bodies and Policy Makers. This event is both in Spanish & English and has no cost for attendees.
This program’s goal is to teach the latest techniques to fight cybercrime, the management of cybersecurity incidents and cybersecurity legislation.
